On 2 October 1948, the Royal Automobile Club hosted the first British Grand Prix at Silverstone, formerly a RAF base. An estimated 100,000 people attended the first race, to witness Luigi Villoresi race against 200 others in his Maserati.
Now, 78 Grand Prix' later and Silverstone remains to be one of the most iconic racetracks in the world - and just over an hour drive from Cliveden House, making it the perfect day out during your stay.
