Terms & Conditions

Cancellation Policy

Our flexible 48-hour cancellation policy means you can cancel within 48 hours of arrival with no charge. All we ask is that at the time of booking, you pay the first night’s room payment as a deposit to confirm your booking. Then, if you need to cancel your reservation, as long as you do so by 12pm, 48 hours prior to arrival, we will refund you your entire deposit. If you cancel within 48 hours of arrival, we will charge you for the first night's payment. If we are able to re-sell the room, you will not be charged.

With the exception of;

Free cancellation until 3pm, 48hrs prior to arrival. You will be charge for the entire stay for late cancellation or no-show within 48 hours prior to scheduled booking. For 7 nights or 7 rooms and more, different terms and conditions will apply. Please note that a 5% discretionary service charge will be added to your room bill upon departure. Specific policies may apply to some rates or periods. If we are able to sell any of the nights, you will not be charged for these.

For all Spring Cottage bookings, a 14-day cancellation policy will apply, so as long as you cancel by 12pm 14 days prior to arrival, you will not be charged. If you do cancel within 14 days of arrival, you will be charged for the first two night's payment. If we are able to sell any of the nights, you will not be charged for these.

You may wish to take out holiday insurance as a precaution.

Service Charge
All accommodation bookings are subject to a 5% discretionary service charge whilst all other services are subject to a 12.5% discretionary service charge.

Cliveden Dining Room Dress Code

While jackets and ties are not essential, smart attire would be expected and formal dress would be welcomed. Informal clothing, including ripped denim, trainers, baseball caps, t-shirts, and shorts would be inappropriate for the elegant setting.

Smoking
Cliveden House is a non-smoking hotel. Should you choose to smoke in your bedroom, we reserve the right to charge a cleaning surcharge upon or after your departure, which will be an additional nights room rate and further charges relating to the deep cleaning of the room may also be incurred.

Mobile Phones
We kindly request that you refrain from using mobile phones in the Great Hall, all public and private dining rooms and the Cliveden Spa.

The Cliveden Spa
The Cliveden Spa requires at least 48 hours notice if treatment is to be cancelled without charge.

Guest Personal Property
Cliveden accepts no liability for any damage to or any loss of guests' personal property.

Driving on the Estate
The Estate is a wildlife haven and The Grand Avenue arrival at Cliveden is a pedestrian area, open to Houseguests and National Trust visitors alike. Guests are politely reminded to take care when driving within the grounds and we respectfully ask that you observe the 5mph speed limit at all times when approaching the House.

Dogs
We are delighted to welcome dogs to Cliveden.

From the moment your pampered pooch is welcomed into the Great Hall, we ensure they have a stay to remember. A supplementary charge of £35 per dog in the room per night applies. Dogs are welcome in the bedrooms and public areas, but not in The Cliveden Dining Room, The Cliveden Spa or bedrooms with hot tubs. Dogs are the full responsibility of their owners and should be well behaved.

We kindly ask that your four-legged friends are well behaved and that you take full responsibility for their behaviour throughout the stay.

Dogs in the National Trust Grounds
Please note there are some National Trust restrictions within the estate. Please visit the National Trust website for further information.

To guarantee your reservation
Credit card details will be taken at the time of booking and the first night's room payment will be required to secure your booking. All outstanding charges are to be settled on departure. On arrival, guests will be requested to present the credit card they intend to use to settle their account. The credit card will be pre-authorised.

In the event of a cancellation
All prepayments and deposits are non-refundable. If your reservation has to be cancelled or amended within 48 hours of the date you planned to visit, we regret that we will have to charge you for each night booked. If we manage to re-book the room, you will not be charged. 

Hotel policies
Check-in and Check-out: Our priority is to have your room ready from 3pm. Should you wish to join us earlier to use the spa or enjoy our facilities, we will be delighted to store your luggage with the porter until the time that your bedrooms become available.

You are kindly asked to vacate your room by 11am on your day of departure. If bedrooms are not vacated by 11am on the day of departure, a charge may be made by the hotel.
