For the first time since 1740 Cliveden will host the premiere of newly commissioned classical musical work. Instead of the music of Thomas Arne and 'Rule Britannia' you can hear from the notable composer John Woolrich in a work commissioned to celebrate and honour another famous Englishman - the artist Sir Stanley Spencer RA.

The musicians will include Alexandra Wood (violin), and Hugh Watkins (piano) and it has been commissioned by the Trustees of the Stanley Spencer Gallery in Spencer's home village of Cookham in Berkshire. Also on the programme in Cliveden's Great Hall will be music by Ravel, Bach, and Schumann.

Proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Sir Stanley Spencer Memorial Trust, to assist with the costs of maintaining the Cookham Gallery and continue the development of its unique collection of works by Sir Stanley Spencer.
