Things to See and Do in Berkshire
Cliveden was originally conceived as a hunting lodge for a man who cared for little beyond "pleasure, frolic or extravagant diversion." His legacy is still evident in the sheer range of entertainments available today.
Guests are free to explore the 376 acres of beautifully maintained National Trust owned gardens and the acres of woodland, water garden and magnificent formal garden that surround the House, complete with fitness trail and children's play area.
In the Cliveden Boathouse, there's a lovingly restored flotilla of the most beautiful vintage launches that are available to you for cruising the Thames. While away a summer afternoon on board, complete with a picnic, or join other guests for our Summer afternoon Champagne cruise. There's no better way to arrive at Henley Royal Regatta or Henley Festival than in one of these exquisite craft...the utmost in style.
Tennis and squash courts, snooker room, a fully equipped gymnasium (personal training available) and The Pavilion Spa, complete with heated outdoor and indoor pools, are all provided within the extensive grounds. Golf at the prestigious Lambourne Golf Club, horse-riding, fishing, shooting and archery are available locally and can be arranged for your enjoyment, and you can even learn to play polo at Ascot Polo Club.
